Chickens are subjected to unspeakable acts of cruelty, all for fun, before they are processed. These acts were secretly videotaped by Mercy for Animals, an organization devoted to exposing and preventing such treatment. In the future, these exposés may no longer be legal because of “ag-gag” laws promoted by the agriculture industry, and by the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) — the same conservative think tank behind stand-your-ground gun laws, voter ID laws — and mandates to force schools to teach climate change denial.
