Some 300 Ukrainians were reportedly held by Russian troops in a dank basement in a village outside of Kyiv where 10 died.

Ukraine Runs Low on Soviet Ammo

Ammunition for Ukraine’s mostly Soviet-style weapons, including artillery and mobile armor, is running low. Its reliance on hard-to-come-by Soviet equipment may make it totally dependent on international support. 

Largest Displacement of People in the World?

Some 7.3 million Ukrainians are crossing the border, with 4.8 million going to Europe, the United Nations High Commission for Refugees stated. With the Ukrainian invasion surpassing 100 days, it’s quickly shot to the top of the list as one of the largest current global displacement crises.

Foreign Fighters Sentenced to Death 

A separatist-controlled court in eastern Ukraine sentenced three captured foreign fighters to death. This includes British citizens Aiden Aslin and Shaun Pinner and Moroccan Brahim Saadoun. The DPR (Donetsk People’s Republic) labeled them terrorists.

Possible Cholera Outbreak

Russia is not providing basic housing or health services to Ukrainians in occupied territories, the British Defence Ministry stated. There’s a shortage of medicine in the southern city of Kherson and a high risk of a major cholera outbreak in Mariupol.

Ukrainians Held in Basement as Human Shields

In the Ukrainian town of Yahidne, just north of Kyiv, Russian troops held more than 300 civilians including 77 children in a “dank basement” for over a month. Ten died in front of friends and family. The basement, which includes only a handful of poorly lit rooms, is littered with scratch marks and children’s drawings. The civilians were reportedly being used as “human shields” by the troops stationed there.
