World-Renowned Crazy Person Threatens Iran With Annihilation

As a malignant narcissist, Donald Trump has a manic need for attention, which is why we would love to ignore him. Sadly, because the American people foolishly thought that he would make a better president the second time around, this is a luxury we do not have. Therefore, we regret to inform you that the severely mentally ill man with command over the US’s nuclear arsenal on Tuesday threatened a country of 90 million people with annihilation.

“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will,” Trump wrote in a social media post that should put to rest any arguments over whether he is fit for office.

He is not. In fact, the only thing he should preside over is the resident’s council of an in-patient psychiatric hospital.

It is truly unfortunate that Congress is still in recess (and that the Capitol Hill press corps is so feckless), because it would be nice to get GOP lawmakers on the record about how they feel about their leader saying that he wants to wipe out an entire country forever.

Of course, what they would say is that this is just Trump being Trump, which is true. The problem is that the president is nuts.

They will also argue that this is a “negotiating tactic.” In a sense, that is also correct… if you think that “negotiating” means that a president with the mentality of a common mobster is vowing to direct the US military to commit massive war crimes.

In reality, it smacks of desperation.

Iran has responded to the US-Israeli attacks in the only way that has proven to be effective against Trump: by punching back. In its case, that means holding the global economy hostage and attacking US allies in the Middle East.

That’s not great for the rest of the world, which has been paying the price for the war, but that’s not Tehran’s concern. They didn’t start this.

We are guessing that Israel also doesn’t particularly care.

Trump, however, does, because his approval ratings have gone from bad to worse to terrible. Ahead of a midterm election that will be about the cost of living more than anything else, he is correctly viewed as a main driver of high prices with his tariffs and this war.

Therefore, the president would really like to end this conflict; he just can’t figure out how.

His options are limited. He can call it quits at any point with the Islamic regime still in power (and with access to hundreds of pounds of enriched uranium), Iran’s military capabilities diminished but not “obliterated,” Tehran in control of the Strait of Hormuz, and everybody having learned the lesson that the only way to deal with Trump is to stand up to him and cause the American people pain.

He can hope for a negotiated peace, which seems to be what his ominous warnings are about. But it’s tough to see how Iran will agree to anything short of retaining all of the above. A version of this outcome is the president reversing course at the last moment, claiming that there are ongoing talks, and extending his deadline once again.

Or Trump can follow through on his threats and hope that a military campaign of extreme brutality, cruelty, and lethality will force Iran to cave.

Finally, based on the wording of his social media post, the president seems to think that now is the time for Iranians to rise up.

“However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS?” wrote the historically unsubtle Trump.

“Revolutionary wonderful,” get it?

“We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World,” the president added. “47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!”

Sure, because nothing says “bless the great people of Iran” like “a whole civilization will die tonight.”

It would be great if somebody stepped in and ended this insanity. Unfortunately, the only ones who can do that are card-carrying members of Trump’s MAGA cult in the cabinet and in Congress.

Therefore, we’ll just have to hope that this is simply another insider trading opportunity for people in the president’s orbit. And the fact that this is the best-case scenario should illustrate that the US is in a desperate place.
