Republicans’ prospects for the 2026 elections aren’t looking very good, so it’s time to wag the dogs of war to obscure Trump’s miserable record of failure.

President Donald J. Trump took to his personal social media platform to post a video announcing his attack on Iran. Listen for yourself, in the video below, and judge whether the reasons offered for going to war make sense to you. He seems to take pleasure in speaking of blood, guts, death, and mayhem.
This attack comes as Trump’s poll numbers on every issue are dismal and steadily dropping as we start the 2026 midterm election season. It’s been said that, “When fascism comes to America, it will come wrapped in the flag and waving the cross.” That is the benefit of starting a war. It gives the Republicans the opportunity to wrap themselves in the flag and bear the cross supporting the troops they put in danger.
Trump campaigned on being the “peace president.” He has honored that pledge by bombing men in fishing boats, kidnapping the president of Venezuela, bombing Iran twice, and taking aggressive actions all around the world, including in the streets of our own country.
We will see if the voters decide that the war in Iran was a mistake or a master stroke. I wouldn’t bet on positive polling.
Here is Trump’s announcement:
Rachael Maddow has a detailed take:
Mark Kelly highlights the Iran nuclear deal that Trump walked away from.
Trump ripped up the Iran nuclear deal and created this mess. Now, he's putting servicemembers in harm's way with no clear plan and no Congressional approval. The American people deserve answers — and Congress needs to do its job.
