Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia wants to rally the great silent majority of moderate Americans in the middle of the political spectrum. He plans to travel the US to offer himself as Mr. Fixit for a divided country. Manchin was first elected to serve the people of West Virginia in 1982 when he won a seat in the West Virginia House of Delegates from the 31st district. Since then he has also served in the West Virginia Senate, was West Virginia’s secretary of state and then governor, and finally US senator. How has West Virginia fared after receiving all this service from the great man? That is the subject of this week’s cartoon.
