Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Dick Durbin (D-IL) has asked for Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito to recuse himself from cases involving Trump in light of recent reports about Alito’s flying of flags with insurrectionist symbols. But Durbin doesn’t plan to hold a hearing on the matter.
“No, we haven’t got anything planned. I think he’s explained his situation. The American public understands what he did,” Durbin said. “But I don’t think there’s much to be gained with a hearing at this point. I think he should recuse himself from cases involving Trump and his administration.”
When asked what he will do if Alito refuses to recuse himself, Durbin said, “There’s no recourse other than impeachment, and we’re not at that point at all.”
