President Trump was taught first by his father and later by the infamous mob lawyer.

With the focus on Roy Cohn in the wake of the publication of Kai Bird and Susan Goldmark’s book, I decided to give my take on Cohn and Donald Trump.

Cohn taught Trump six lessons for dealing with the law, the media, and other institutions. I found a list of Cohn’s rules in an excerpt from Thom Hartmann’s The Last American President

  1. Never apologize or admit wrongdoing, ever.
  2. Always counter-attack, and always with greater force than you received.
  3. Use the legal system as a weapon, not a recourse for justice.
  4. Manipulate the media ruthlessly.
  5. Use fear as both shield and sword.
  6. Build a fortress of loyalty around yourself.

Trump, not noted for his academic prowess, has been nothing if not a straight-A student in Professor Cohn’s class.
