According to Wikipedia: “‘Navel-gazing’ is generally a derogatory term referring to excessive focus on oneself, self-indulgent introspection.”
That perfectly describes the actions of President Donald J. Trump.
He acted impulsively based on vibes from Bibi Netanyahu and his friend Lindsey Graham when he decided to attack Iran again. Now, the entire world is dealing with a series of catastrophes that this war is causing — including deaths and injuries of Americans and Iranians, high prices and shortages of oil products like diesel and fertilizer. These shortages are raising prices for all products, and that is before the cost of the Trump tariffs.
He needs to find a way to retreat while declaring victory so that the rest of us can finally get some relief. So far, his omphaloskepsis has come up dry.
