06/28/26

It is becoming obvious that Republicans are destined to lose the House and possibly the Senate; this has Trump frantic to cheat his way to victory.

President Donald J. Trump wrecked Republican Senate Majority Leader John Thune’s summer by refusing to sign the bipartisan housing bill and holding it hostage to Congress passing the incredibly partisan Save America Act. The Save America Act is a foul piece of legislation that is designed to suppress the votes of women, low-income Americans, rural voters, students, military personnel, and Native Americans.

If Congress refuses to pass the act, Trump will seek other methods to cheat his way to success. I would wager he already has projects underway to reduce Democratic voter turnout that we aren’t aware of yet.

He will set ICE loose on blue cities when early voting starts, to try and scare people into not leaving their homes. A federal judge recently ruled against Trump’s effort to have the Postal Service manage a list of voters. The idea was to have the USPS reject ballots for delivery to anyone not on the voter list. This is absurd and it was shot down by a court, but that doesn’t mean the Trump team won’t still do it and dare to be taken to court later.

I have to give a hat tip to Greg Sargent and Amanda Marcotte for crystalizing Trump’s uncontrollable urges to cheat to win the 2026 midterm elections.
