Dr. Oz Is In Charge of Your Medicare and Medicaid. You Better Watch Out!

“Medicare for All” should be a litmus test for all candidates running for federal office. With the coming AI jobs apocalypse, it is more urgent than ever to decouple health care from employment.
AI moguls keep hand-waving about universal basic income (UBI) as a potential solution, but UBI by itself won’t solve the problem. Health care is a human right and all rich countries should provide it to all of their citizens. You can’t take all of the jobs away and eliminate the social safety net programs and replace them with UBI.
If you have Medicare with the Part B supplement you have really good insurance. You can go to any doctor. Your deductibles are reasonable. You rarely have to wait for care depending on your location.
The Trump administration wants to attribute all of the high cost of health care to fraud. There may be a lot of fraud in the system and we should all be for eliminating it. But randomly reducing the number of people receiving benefits isn’t the same as eliminating fraud. The biggest fraudsters aren’t individual recipients, but organized scammers. For Donald Trump and his Medicare & Medicaid administrator, Dr. Mehmet Oz, eliminating fraud is a smoke screen for kicking people off of health care.
Americans not enrolled in Medicare either don’t have insurance, pay through the nose through the ACA exchange, are poor enough to qualify for Medicaid, or get insurance from their employers, unions, or the Veterans Administration. Everyone who has insurance is afraid of losing it. They worry that Medicare would not be as good as what they have now. We all have to let go and think of the greater good.
It’s time to end the highway robbery in health care and create a 21st-century single-payer solution that covers everyone while bringing down the cost of care.
